There was a farmer who grew watermelons. He was doing pretty well, but he was disturbed by some local kids who would sneak into his watermelon patch at night and eat all his watermelons.

After some careful thought, he came up with a clever idea that he thought would scare the kids away for sure. So he made up a sign and posted it in the field. The next day, the kids show up and they see a sign saying "Warning! One of the watermelons in this field has been injected with cyanide."

So the kids run off and make up their own sign and post it next to the farmer's sign. The farmer shows up the next week and looks over the field. He notices that no watermelons are missing, but reads the sign next to his :"Now there are two!!!"

私の解説＆コメント


ある農夫がすいかを育てていて、みごとなすいかが育っていた。でも彼の悩みは夜こっそり来て、せっかく育てたすいかを食べてしまう子どもたち。ある日、農夫はいいことを思いついて立て札をたてた。

「注意！このすいかのどれか１個に青酸カリを入れた！」

次の週、すいかには一つも手はつけられていなかったけれども、農夫は別の立て札を見つけた。

「注意！２個になった！」

。。。つまり最初は子どもを脅すためだったので青酸カリなんて入っていなかったけど、子どもたちが本当にスイカに青酸カリを注入してしまい、どれだかわからない、、(;o;)



解説＆コメント（２）


子どもは張り紙をしただけで実際に青酸カリを入れてないのでは？というコメントを何人かの方からいただきましたが、そういえばそうですよね(^^)。

私がどうして本当に毒を入れたと解釈したかというと、農夫がこの立て札を見つけたのが next week なっているから。農夫はすいかをとても大事にしているようなので、立て札をしたあと毎日見に行くと思われますよね。でも見つけたのは next week になっている、つまり、子どもが準備する（青酸カリを手に入れる）のに時間がかかったので、next day ではなく next week にしたのではないかと、、、本文ではなんとも言っていないので、どちらをとってもいいと思います(^^)
